After Tiffany's visit to Beijing, we went to Hong Kong to meet up with her family there. Not only was it SO nice to be back in Hong Kong (for so many reasons...), but I LOVED being with her sweet, sweet family - just hanging out with them, getting to know them, and, of course, per Hong Kong culture, eating incredible food. Hong Kong will always have a special place in my heart.
This photo makes me so happy.
Good old Hong Kong milk tea. Never fails.
Dim sum with Tiff's family. Her precious grandmother is in the background there. I wish so much that I could just talk with her and hear her story. Unfortunately, only knowing enough Cantonese to order my favorite dim sum foods does not allow conversation to go very far. Her love language IS feeding you food though... seriously.
(In the bowl there is black chicken soup. It was actually the first time I had it and it was surprisingly really good. Who knew black chicken soup even existed?)
NOVEM!! A sweet and close friend from HKUST joined up with us. SOO wonderful to see her again!
Chicken feet. Of course. I will, ever so reluctantly, give mine up for someone else to enjoy. (Seriously, people do love them though...)
At the Ladies' Market with Novem.
The infamous Honeymoon Dessert
Chris, a friend from Rice, ALSO meet up with us! Love it.
Mango pancake things with cool whip filling....
Vanilla ice (ice baby)
(and mango and some rice thing on top)
Family dinner with Tiff's extended family, celebrating birthdays. Tiff's grandfather is on the left there - also would love to be able to chat with him. It doesn't take any Cantonese to figure out how sweet and loving Tiff's grandparents are.
(I lost track of how many dishes there were at this dinner, but I think it was at least 16, not exaggerating... all incredible, of course.)
Oink.
Tiffany's mom, on the right, was (just like all of Tiff's family) so hospitable, sweet, and welcoming, teaching me all sorts of things including how to cook some Chinese food! (still mastering that one.....) Had the pleasure of hearing a teeny bit of her story, which I absolutely loved.
