This blog.

By definition, this blog will never be finished since I am perpetually escapading. So far, 3/4 of China is done (a work in progress...), but now I'm in Mo'orea and will be attempting to finish Mo'orea first since it's only a month, not almost a year. But with super limited internet, this isn't going to be lightning fast (surprise!).

Cheers!

Cooking with the Quillins!

Elizabeth's parents made the trek all the way over to China to visit!  In a recent conversation with Elizabeth's mom, she apparently wasn't so worried about us until they actually came to China and saw our place and neighborhood, which we were quite proud of and considered to be our wonderful little haven....  (However, note that this is the same place that took us a few solid weeks until we felt comfortable enough to just sit on the couch...  Either we finally adjusted to China and our perspectives changed or it's just another side effect of the air pollution.)

Moving on, we took a cooking class!

Some father-daughter cooking right here, making the stirfry pork with sweet flour sauce

Prep for the stirfry.

You can literally cook anything with a wok.  Or at least Elizabeth and I did.  Including popcorn.  Not recommended.

Working the Wonton with almost all the Quillins

Definitely easier than the previous dumplings.  Both delicious.  In case you were wondering.

Some sort of Chinese veggie dish (so easy, so good) with the pork stirfry in the background (use the tofu wraps on the left to make little Chinese tacos)
(also made Beijing style braise duck... eaten and enjoyed, but not pictured...)

No way I could survive China without Elizabeth.
