Off for another one of our 60 day visa runs, this time to the Philippines: the happiest, smiliest, sun-shiney, most beautiful place ever. The Philippines could not be more opposite of China - the clear (and clean) air, perfect weather, BLUE sky, BLUE clear water, smiles of curiosity from the locals rather than the blank unremitting stares..... This trip was much needed on so many levels. We literally wanted to soak in every moment, whether we were in complete and utter relaxation by the water or testing the limits with extreme sports. Also, it smelled very similar to Central America. And was filled with colors and random Spanish words.
The classic picture upon arrival to the Phil. After two overnight flights with minimal sleepage, we jumped into a 1.5 hour car ride across Cebu to Moalboal, a tiny fishing village. Some people are clearly more excited than others.
Simply could not stop staring at the beautiful blue sky.
Some of our preview views from the car ride.... (Most was very hard to capture, but basically, it was a beautiful ride)
Tricycles, regardless of the size, can fit as many people as you like....
Moalboal!
El Temblor!
aka our tricycle to get in and out of town. All of the tricycles are pimped out with all sorts of different designs, decorations, and colors. The three of us crammed in the cart while the driver rode the attached motorbike (below). I did not fit well. Surprise.
The back of El Temblor
Complete with both flames and the Virgin Mary.
Our "driver"
Not quite sure what that seatbelt is supposed to do, but it's a nice thought.
Beautiful ladies.
Stopping for gas... from a large glass Coca-Cola bottle.
So precious. Can't handle it.
The little town of Moalboal, crammed with tricycles, smiling people, and whatnot.
AND the most interesting and tasty bakery.
We bought lots of little treats/snacks (for next to nothing) for lunch and....
....shared everything. Best traveling ritual ever.
Part of the little market we wandered through and bought $3 sundresses.
Did I mention how much I love the Filipinos? Such happy people. And adorable kids, of course.
Universally too much to handle.
While Madeleine is being a normal person and taking pics of the village, Emma and I are completely infatuated with the puppy....
Buying lots of tropical fruit.
TONS of delicious fresh, tropical fruit. (Yes, I know these are just apples... bad example.)
Little beach where we enjoyed mangos and other tropical fruits of sorts.
Ahem.......
Million dollar view for shacks. I love it.
