Morning explorations from The Blue Orchid. Our room was on the left side of the building on the left... with the balcony on top...
Bright blue starfish = the best.
(The sea creatures actually weren't that colorful there, except for randoms ones like this...)
MASSIVE, very 3D starfish.
No clue what this is called, but it kept fanning in and out as it caught and ate whatever.... SO cool to watch.
....annnnd this is what happens when you are just way too curious about the sea creatures and can't keep your hands to yourself.
The result of touching one of the most beautiful sea urchins I have ever seen. Obviously, it stung me with its spines. My finger turned a beautiful blue and a stinger was actually lodged in my finger for about 6 months after. I actually still have a bump on my finger from it (and probably always will). The people at Blue Orchid made me stick my finger in boiling water over and over (hence the mug). (Many thanks to Madeleine who tried to get it out of my finger!!)
Did I learn my lesson? Probably not.
View from our porch.
View from one of the beds...
SO delicious.
They also had a monkey there who was super cute... but absolutely HATED any females, so we obviously couldn't come near. She was totally sweet and nice to any males though.
HUGE nasty beetle. Wish I had put something next to it for perspective. With the beautiful tropical weather comes oversized bugs...
Our star gazing perch. If only my camera could capture those stars...
awesome weird islands.
...the hut where Madeleine and me had very, very cheap massages overlooking the sunset on the water
Might I introduce you to one of the best foods ever (yes, I realize I have said a lot of foods are the best food, BUT seriously... this was just from another world.)
Pork tocino (I think that is the name???)
Basically some Filipino breakfast food - perfectly sweet and slightly caramelized pork with garlic rice.
As you can see by the happiness on Emma's face, it was beyond incredible. Someday, I want to at least attempt to recreate this meal.
