This blog.

By definition, this blog will never be finished since I am perpetually escapading. So far, 3/4 of China is done (a work in progress...), but now I'm in Mo'orea and will be attempting to finish Mo'orea first since it's only a month, not almost a year. But with super limited internet, this isn't going to be lightning fast (surprise!).

Cheers!

Gone.

While talking to the store owners of one store we went to for our apartment, they mentioned that they were just given their 5 weeks notice to move out of their buildings since the whole area/neighborhood would be torn down.  As soon as they heard, all these "trees" miraculously grew overnight (they would be reimbursed 600 yuan (~$94) for each tree on their property).  The rooftop also appeared overnight to connect two of their buildings (also giving them more reimbursement).  I can't even begin to count how many neighborhoods we have seen torn down at a moment's notice, forcing all their inhabitants to relocate.  Even within our little town, little restaurants will be blooming with business and the next day we find everything abandoned or demolished, without windows and everything, looking like no one has touched the place for years.  On the flip side, we will see huge stone fence, new grass (complete with a very important grass guard), and enormous random neon signs (I'm sure they say something important... but I still don't know Chinese.  Regardless, they still don't quite fit in to our little town.) appear out of thin air within an afternoon in our little town.
