This blog.

By definition, this blog will never be finished since I am perpetually escapading. So far, 3/4 of China is done (a work in progress...), but now I'm in Mo'orea and will be attempting to finish Mo'orea first since it's only a month, not almost a year. But with super limited internet, this isn't going to be lightning fast (surprise!).

Cheers!

South Korea: Most unusual accommodations ever.

The entrance to the building, consisting of a wide assortment of fake lawn animals, complete with a fake tree background.  Very classy.

And then you enter the building.  Basically a 24 hour sauna place, consisting of many different floors and many different rooms.  Quite local, definitely not a tourist attraction.  We were definitely the only westerners there.  People came in groups of friends, as families, as a mother/daughter thing, as couples... but it was mainly a family thing.  When you first arrive, they give you a uniform based on your gender (women in orange and red, men in all white) and then off to the respective locker rooms.  On the other floors, besides different restaurants, movie watching areas, game areas, fitness areas, etc, there are tons of different rooms you could go into... to just relax or sleep.  People were asleep all over the place though, just on the hard floor or on thin straw mats (even though there is a floor dedicated to sleeping with beds), both inside and outside of these rooms.  Each room had a different "specialty" and bizarre explanation of how it was good for your body.  Most, but definitely not all, were quite hot.  Some of the rooms are pictured below...

A room... filled with air and sleeping people.
But actually, I definitely would not mind an oxygen room in Beijing...

Everyone gets their own sleeping spot on the hard floor.

I think these are filled with tea leaves??  They were hanging in most rooms.

Aka yellow soil fermentation room.

It was quite difficult not to smile here... The "pillows" are wooden blocks.

Yellow soil on the ceiling, I suppose?

The jade pebbles (and the whole room for that matter) were so hot.  After slowly adjusting, it actually felt nice to lay down.  But SO hard to walk on the pepples.

Yes, this whole room is filled with massive amounts of really hot salt you can relax or go to sleep on.

Seriously.  These rooms were SO hot.

Yes, we took a picture of a snoring man.

One of the descriptions of the many health benefits of that particular room.

Your own little ovens you can cook in.

The ice room.

Please appreciate the writing above my head.

 The HOT room.

I could barely get this picture because my lens would fog up almost instantly.  But this thermometer reads 93 Celsius... (as in close to 100 C, as in close to actually boiling for everyone who doesn't love the metric system).  It was really hard to breathe.  I am sure it is really good for your body to go straight from -21 C to 93 C.

Some of the rooms, all lined up down a row.  Those people are sleeping on the ground there.

The actual sleeping room, consisting of hundreds of bunk beds.  Three different sleeping rooms: women, men, and snorers.

Then downstairs, there were just as many baths and jacuzzis of the same idea (jade fomentation, coal, etc).  And all of this was $12.
